These were fun to make. Giant lollypop decorations for a kids birthday party, then I am going to save them for Christmas candy land decorations. Dollar store pool noodles, some duct tape, a broom handle and a heat shrink bag. Only got a few blisters from the hot glue gun. I don't know how well they will hold up outside so I sprayed them with a clear UV protective coating. Now I hope they make it through the party without being destroyed by the kids.

Cloth Hockey stick tape, does it glow under black light / UV light

Cloth hockey stick tapes are specialized tapes used on hockey stick handles to improve grip and on hockey blades to improve puck control. The cohesive soft grip hockey tape sticks to itself but not to the hockey stick. The cloth hockey stick tape has adhesive and wraps tighter and stays on longer. Our performance hockey stick tapes are formulated to provide optimum performance on modern composite hockey sticks and blade, as well as traditional wood and fiberglass blades. The manufactures give their colors names like Fluorescent XXX or Neon XXX. This does not mean they will glow under a black light / UV light.
Here is an example of how some cloth hockey stick tapes react to a black light. Starting on the left and going down:
FL yellow, FL pink, FL orange and FL green
Camo winter, American flag, Skuls, camo pink, camo green, Canada and camo blue
yellow, grey / silver and white
Here is what they look like under a black light / UV light.
The 4 fluorescent colors glow but show the texture of the cloth. Some of the white in the camo patterns have a little glow to them but the roll of solid white does not glow at all.

Gaff tape or gaffers tape or spike tape is a matte finish cloth tape with smooth controlled unwind. The adhesive allows it to be pulled up cleanly form most surfaces after prolonged application. The manufactures give their colors names like Fluorescent XXX or Neon XXX. This does not mean they will glow under a black light / UV light.
Here is an example of how some gaffers tapes react to a black light. Starting on the left and going down:
Fl blue, Fl green, FL orange, Fl pink and Fl yellow
Burgundy, white, purple, and gray / silver
Here is what they look like under a black light / UV light.
The Fluorescent colors have a really nice glow but there is little difference between the yellow and green. None of the other colors have any glow to them. Gaffers tape works best indoors but can be used for short term use outside. Gaff tape is a short term use tape and should not be used in a permanent application.
Flagging tape / ribbon, does it glow under black light / UV light

Flagging tape is a non-adhesive ribbon used for color coding, marking, and surveying. There are many manufactures of this material and similar colors from different manufactures may have a different reaction to black / UV light. The manufactures give their colors names like Fluorescent XXX or Neon XXX. This does not mean they will glow under a black light / UV light.
Here is an example of how some flagging tapes react to a black light. Starting on the left and going down.
FL pink and black polka dots, FL pink and black stripes, FL pink and white checkerboard and FL pink and black checkerboard
FL pink, FL red, FL yellow, FL orange, FL lime, FL green and FL blue
black, blue, orange and green
purple, pink, yellow, white and red
Here is what they look like in regular light.
Here is what they look like under a black light / UV light.
None of the regular colors glow. The fluorescent pink and black rolls have a tiny bit of glow. Some of the fluorescent solid colors have some glow and some do not. These might make some cool fluorescent hanging streamers or attach to a fan for a motion effect.
Paper Masking Tape, does it glow under black light / UV light

Masking tape is a lightly adhesived tape that can be applied on many different surfaces and removed without leaving any residue or causing any damage. The manufactures give their colors names like Fluorescent XXX or Neon XXX. This does not mean they will glow under a black light / UV light.
Here is an example of how some paper masking tapes react to a black light. Starting on the left and going down:
neon yellow, neon green, neon red-orange and neon pink
red, yellow, pink and white
light-green, red, white, purple, light-yellow and orange
Here is what they look like in regular light.
Here is what they look like under a black light / UV light.
The 4 neon colors fluoresce well but there is not much of a color difference between the neon green and neon yellow. None of the other colors glow at all. Masking tape is a temporary tape and will not work well outside if it gets wet. The neon colors would work well for an inside short term project.

Duct tape is a cloth-backed adhesive tape that is easily hand ripped or cut. The three layers that make up the tape are polyethylene, fabric mesh, and adhesive. The manufactures give their colors names like Fluorescent XXX or Neon XXX. This does not mean they will glow under a black light / UV light.
Here is an example of how some duct tapes react to a black light. Starting on the left and going down:
americana, marble, mermaid and honeycomb
rainbow, banana leaf, blue and red
neon yellow, neon green, neon pink and neon orange
fluorescent citrus, fluorescent lilac, white and silver
Here is what they look like in regular light.
Here is what they look like under a black light / UV light.
None of the patters glow at all. Of the 4 neon colors, orange is the best then pink. The neon green turned black and barely anything from the neon yellow. The fluorescent citrus really glows and the fluorescent lilac has a little glow to it.
If you are looking for great colors that glow under black light / UV light, duct tape is probable not the product to use.

Photoluminescent film is rechargeable for "glow in the dark" applications. Photoluminescent film absorbs visual lights and automatically glows in the dark for at least 10 hours once fully charged.
